Arm and Hammer Toothpaste Ingredients
When choosing a product it is important to know what ingredients whent into that product. I went out and actually took pictures of a bunch of different toothpaste products. These pictures include the backs of the boxes and the toothpaste ingredients lists.
One interesting thing that makes the Arm & Hammer brand stand out is their use of baking soda in thier toothpastes ( and all of thier products ). If you look at what is actually included it is listed as sodium bicarbonate which is basically just baking soda. If you want to know what else they include, keep reading.
Here we have the "Advanced White" line of toothpaste. This is what you would want to get if you want whiter teeth. This can be achieved using baking soda instead of harsher ingredients.

Now if you want to know exactly what toothpaste ingredients are used in a product that is meant to whiten your teeth. We have a picture of the back of the box showing the ingredients list right here:
Here is the side of the box in case you want to see what it looks like from that angle. It will help you if you want to be able to quickly recognize this toothpaste in the store while speed shopping.
If you want something that is kind of an all in one solution that encompasses everything, you might want to think about Arm and Hammer Complete Care. This is meant to cover a wide range of use cases. It is good for cleaning, polishing, gum health, gingivitis, and probably anything else you could think of. This is probably meant to compete with the equivalent products from companies like Crest or Colgate. This would be a unique spin on the idea using baking soda.
Here is another view of the front.
Here is a third view of the front.
This is the back of the box. It shows what toothpaste ingredients are used in arm and hammer toothpaste. If you want to know exactly what goes into a general purpose, all encompassing toothpaste, this will show you. It contains the exact information, straight from the source. Besides baking soda, a lot of other stuff actually goes into this product.
Here it is from the side!
Another interesting Arm and Hammer Toothpaste product is thier "Peroxicare" line. This stuff is pretty interesting. What sets it apart is the fact that they include peroxide in addtion to baking soda. It is specially designed to give you a deep clean. It specifically targets your gums making sure that they are as healthy as possible.
Here is the front again:
If you look carfully at the ingredients you will notice that sodium fluoride is the only ingredient that is listed as an "active ingredient". The others are all listed as inactive. Peroxide is listed as sodium carbonate peroxide. That is pretty neat if you wanted to know exactly what chemical they used.
Want a view of the side of the box? Of course you do! I loved taking these pictures and want to make sure that I include all of them on the page even if they aren't really necessary!

It tells you…..
This, for one thing, tells you it’s a product that’s quite massively popular and sells highly. Of course, who hasn’t heard of Arm & Hammer products? And in my opinion, their toothpastes, foot powder and deodorants are some of the best around, but let’s just focus on their toothpastes in this piece. There’s a lot of great material to cover, on that note, starting with the very brand of Arm & Hammer itself…..
The Condensed History of Arm & Hammer: In a Nutshell…..
Arm & Hammer goes way back to 1846, when John Dwight and Austin Church started their preparations for the widespread, commercial distribution of soda bicarbonate. Little did they know that supply and demand would grow tremendously within this industry and that people would later flock to buy their product as they do today, even ordering online for next-day delivery as needed. Anyways, the two men continued to hand-package this highly versatile product, within paper bags, at their initial factory (which was known as Mr. Dwight’s Kitchen at the time). They went through many name changes, merger processes and even branding experts before becoming the business they now are today!
Types of toothpastes provided by Arm & Hammer
Consider one, several, or all of the following 18 types offered, also noting the main ingredients they tend to contain. Among these mainly lie those of DC Yellow 10, sorbitol, PEG-8, natural and artificial flavor additives, cellulose gum, sodium saccharin, Blue 1, sodium fluoride, alcohol, titanium dioxide, mica, Red 33 & Red 40, sodium lauryl sulfate, and potassium nitrate. These are usually listed as the main and secondary active ingredients, but let’s break it down just a bit further…..
First off, the sorbitol acts mainly as a humectant while any water included merely serves as a minor solvent. Furthermore, you’ll see the hydrated silica will serve as the main abrasive, as well as thickener, at work behind each toothpaste. Also, other crucial solvents involved include the PEG-8, alcohol, and added flavoring element compounds just mentioned.
The Red and Blue colorings simply serve as dye, and the cellulose gum is the main binder here. Sodium lauryl sulfate is each toothpaste’s surfactant, regardless of which of the 18 you choose, and sodium saccharin is the primordial sweetener in play. And to add a further note still, and last but not certainly least, the active ingredients of potassium nitrate and sodium fluoride act to target antihypersensitivity and anticavity factors, respectively.

A few oral care tips to keep in mind
First, (and this is more of a fact you should never forget, which few people seem to know) when it comes to whitening your teeth and smile the natural way, it appears nothing can do the trick quite the same as a toothpaste that already holds some type of baking soda ingredient or baking soda derivative within it, which Arm & Hammer toothpastes proudly contain. And that’s a fact; powerful and gentle, yet highly effective, whitening is what you get each and every time. In fact, Arm & Hammer experts have suggested the same, only time and time again. Countless studies have attested to this fact.
But also, keep in mind that many things these days can weaken or damage your enamel. And that’s never good. Arm & Hammer has suggested the following to be some of the greatest contributors to the damage, so watch out for them like your life depends on it:
- Sugar or acidic foods
- Soda/fruit drink products
- Having acid reflux itself or anything that could aggravate it
- Grinding your teeth
- Having dry mouth (See a doctor to identify the potential root source…..)
- Plaque building up unnoticed or unattended to
And furthermore, since enamel’s your first and only real line of defense from incoming intruders, it’s thus wise to keep it optimized in every way possible. So here’s a few tips for doing just that. Read through these often to keep yourself informed and reminded:
- Drink through straws, not putting your lips or mouth on any cup used by someone else before, when you’re at the restaurant.
- Remove the effects of acidic foods or drinks by always rinsing your mouth after meal times.
- Drink water more often to strengthen your saliva and minimize dry mouth.
- Use enamel-strengthening toothpastes, like Arm & Hammer’s (Arm & Hammer’s “Bright & Strong” toothpaste is awesome at taking care of this.)
